The MOIG Director was invited by the National Agency of Environment Protection (ANPE) to the Western Mediterranean Region Marine Oil & HNS Pollution Cooperation Project entitled "National Workshop-Readiness Evaluation Tool for Oil Spills (RETOS)", held on 05th February 2020, in Diplomat Hotel in Tunis-Tunisia.
The main objectives of this project were:
- To strengthen cooperation in the field of preparedness for and response to marine pollution
- To enhance quality and interoperability of the response capacities in the western Mediterranean region; through the improvement of making decision capacity
- To evaluate National Oil Spill Contingency Plans
- To reinforce synergies between National and Sub-Regional Emergency Response Procedures.
The workshop was animated by the experts of ITOPF and ANPE and gathered about 25 participants from : ANPE, ANGED, APAL, APIP, ETAP, OMMP, ONAS, Ministry of Environment and Local Affairs, Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Tourism.
The programme included an introduction to the RETOS Tools and presentation of the Tunisian National Oil Spill Contingency Plan. In addition, participants afforded the opportunity to perform a self assessment of the Tunisian Oil Spill contingency Plan according to Level A evaluation.
