The CEO of IEMS Egypt Visited Tunisia

From 22th to 27th June 2014, Captain Richard Byrnes, the Chief Executive Officer of the International Environmental Marine Service (IEMS, an associate member) was the MOIG guest.

Several meetings were held in Sfax and Tunis between the CEO of IEMS, MOIG Director and key persons of various oil and gas industry such as : Chairmen, Vice chairmen, Vice President, Operation and HSSE Managers) of ETAP, SNDP, TANKMED, COOPER, TRAPSA, CTKCP, BGT, NUMHYD, SEREPT, MARETAP, ENI Tunisia, TPS, STORM, PETROFAC and ANPE.

The main objectives of these meetings were:

  1. To promote the forthcoming MOIG Workshop scheduled to be held in Nicosia-Cyprus over 13-14 October 2014
  2. To enhance member integration within the framework of MOIG.

We were very pleased with the outcome of these meetings; MOIG members commonly highlighted a number of recommendations to further develop MOIG activities. such as:

  1. Elaborate a specific training program for 2015
  2. Create a dynamic data base containing list of equipments
  3. Perform drills and exercises.
  4. Provide to members legislation, collective agreements and protocols,
  5. Enhance communication system between MOIG members
  6. Provide specific technical assistance
  7. Review of, revision and recommendations for existing equipments
  8. Commissioning of the new equipments.

The MOIG Management Committee Members would like to thank Captain Richard Byrnes for supporting MOIG Director and sharing with us his experience in Oil Spill Preparedness and Response during these meetings.
