The MOIG Management Committee was very delighted to welcome Moncef Saidi; new member; appointed by ETAP instead of Yassine Mestiri, who had recently retired.
Moncef is a petroleum geochemist and was educated at the University of Tunis; from 1980- 1993; where he received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in geology specialized in Organic Geochemistry.
He joined ETAP since 1987 as young laboratory engineer. From 1992 to 2008, he was in charge of the organic geochemistry Laboratory of ETAP. From 2008 to 2011, he acted as Laboratory deputy manager and from 2011 to 2016; as Petroleum Servicing Director in charge of Laboratories and Petroleum Data Base of ETAP. Since 2016, he is promoted as Exploration Central Director.
Moncef main interests are source rock and oil characterization, oil/oil and oil/source rock correlation, reservoir geochemistry and basin modeling. He was involved in almost all the projects/studies concerning source rock and oil characterization as well as basin modeling in Tunisia.
Moncef was a leader of several fieldtrips regarding to petroleum systems in Tunisia. During the last 15 years he supervised more than 100 research projects (Master degree Projects, and PhD thesis) in collaboration with the Tunisian universities. He has authored and co-authored more than 50 technical papers in the National and International Meetings/Conferences.
Moncef was a leader of 15 geological field trips for the account of petroleum companies and 12 for the account of ETAP (Field trips post EPC conference).
