MOIG participated to 13th Focal Points Meeting

The MOIG Director was invited by the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Centre for the Mediterranean See (REMPEC) to attend the 13th Meeting of the focal points held; from 11 to 13 June 2019; at the Excelsior Hotel in Valetta-Malta.
The main objectives of this meeting were :

  1. To examine the implementation of the programme of work of REMPEC since the twelfth meeting of the focal points
  2. To discuss and approve the proposed programme of work for the biennium 2020-2021, prior to its submission to the meeting of MAP focal points and the twenty-first ordinary meeting of the contracting parties to the Barcelona Convention

The event gathered over 80 participants from 19th Mediterranean Coastal States, the European Union, the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the governmental and non-governmental organizations, the industry and associations to address a wide range of technical and strategic decisions issues.
This meeting was also a good opportunity to meet and undertake fruitful discussions on oil spill preparedness and response on the Mediterranean Region with representatives of REMPEC, Cedre, ATRAC and OSRL as well as IPIECA, IOPC Funds, Sea Alarm foundation and IOGP.
