in MOIG Events

15 June 2021, the training course on “Readiness Evaluation Tool for Oil Spills (RETOS)”; was held at Iberostar Averroes Hotel in South Hammamet-Tunisia in cooperation with the National Agency of Environment Protection (ANPE).

The training was animated by Samir Khedhira, General Controller Expert and REMPEC Focal Point; from ANPE. The event gathered 23 delegates from ANPE, EAM, SAROST, SEREPT, STIR, STU, TRAPSA, TOPIC and TPS.

The training agenda included an introduction of West MOPoCo project and RETOS tool, the accompanying manual ARPEL and the International Guide for Oil Spill Response Planning and Readiness Assessments (IOSC 2008), presentation of SEREPT Oil Spill Contingency Plan, gap analysis and recommendations. We were very delighted by the rewarding working atmosphere, MOIG members and representatives from ANPE and EAM worked together, shared their experiences and applied what they have learned from the RETOS training course during the self assessment of SEREPT Oil Spill Contingency Plan.

MOIG recommended holding periodically similar workshops in cooperation with members in order to assess their Oil Spill Contingency Plans. The recommendation has been welcomed by the majority of members who expressed interest in hosting such event.

At the end of the training, certificates were awarded to participants by Samir Khedhira; ANPE representative, Mahmoud Kamour, chairman and Malek Kallel, Management Committee Member for the completion of RETOS training course. The Management Committee would like to thank ANPE for providing technical support to MOIG and Samir Khedhira for its professionalism and high quality expertise provided to participants; thereby contributing to the success of this event.
