31 January 2025, The Mediterranean Oil Industry Group (MOIG), the Center of Documentation, Research and Experimentation on Accidental Water Pollution (Cedre) and the Tunisian Society of Refining Industries (STIR) are very pleased to invite members and technical partners to the training course on response to accidental oil pollution at sea and on the shoreline “IMO level 2” and the Practical Exercise.

The training course on response to accidental oil pollution at sea and on the shoreline “IMO level 2” will be held; from 19 to 21 May 2025; at Bizerta Resort Hotel; in Bizerte-Tunisia. The Practical Exercise will take place on 22 May 2025 in STIR Refinery in Zarzouna- Bizerte.

The event will be open on Monday, 19 May 2025 at 08:30 am and expected to close on Thursday, 22 May 2025 at 16:30 pm; and will be animated by MM. Arnaud GUENA and Nicolas JARRY, experts from Cedre.

This training course will be dedicated to personnel from oil industry and shipping companies, administrations and local government bodies and will allow participants to:

1. Anticipate the fate and behaviour of oil spills in the aquatic environment;
2. Gain concrete practical knowledge of response strategies and techniques;
3. Select appropriate equipment to respond to spills;
4. Contribute to the development of a Contingency Plan;
5. Improve the level of preparedness and response to oil spills.

The programme includes the six following sessions: Introduction, behaviour of oil, response on water, shoreline response, principles of crisis management and practical exercise. The working languages will be French and English.
